South London based Paige Bea has returned with her new single, Impossibly, premiering the release on BBC 1Xtra with Jamz Supernova. With early support from the likes of The Line Of Best Fit, CLASH and Spotify’s Fresh Finds, her previous singles, ‘Pick Up Your Heart’ and ‘Your Echo’, quickly garnered fans in KCRW (Jason Kramer), Amazing Radio (Charlie Ashcroft). Continuing to explore the darker aesthetic of her previous release, ‘Impossibly’ begins with a brooding hand muted piano and quivering synthesisers before unexpectedly launching into Paige’s biggest chorus to date. This release marks the beginning of a new chapter for the singer-songwriter, carving out her own style with a refreshing relatability.
Paige was classically trained on piano and voice for the first 18 years of her life, but after a brief stint studying opera in Dublin she became dissatisfied with the regimented nature of the classical world. Inspired by a late discovery of Amy Winehouse’s ‘Frank’ after watching Asif Kapadia’s documentary, she began channelling all her energy into songwriting.
